Upbringing

I was raised in Ontario, CA, and eventually moved to Albuquerque during my high school years. Cultural diversity was a pivotal part of my life, influenced by my environments and my family's makeup.

Disability

Due to complications during my mother’s labor, I was born with Cerebral Palsy. This condition has affected my speech (which can sound a bit muffled), fine motor skills, and balance when I walk.

Living with CP has profoundly shaped who I am. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and a deep empathy for anyone navigating both invisible and visible challenges. My personal journey gives me a unique perspective on strength, vulnerability, and the quiet power of showing up fully — even when the world doesn’t make it easy.

As a therapist, I incorporate this lived experience into every session of my counseling services. Clients often share that after the first 10–15 minutes, they stop noticing my speech entirely — their ears simply adjust — and they connect with the care, insight, and cultural understanding I provide.

I’m fully transparent about my voice and would be happy to hop on a short consultation call or video session so you can experience how we connect. My goal is for you to feel safe, seen, and supported from our very first interaction in this journey towards mental wellness through talk therapy.

Cultural Identity

I identify as an Afrolatino man — Black and Mexican. My identity is deeply rooted in both African and Mexican heritage, and I carry the richness of both cultures with pride. My journey led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Africana Studies. I wanted more than personal experience; I sought an academic lens to better understand the complex ways race, ethnicity, and culture shape our daily lives — the systemic forces, the resilience passed down through generations, and the beauty of our shared stories. This blend of lived experience and formal study informs my work as a therapist. I provide counseling services that emphasize cultural humility, insight, and a genuine understanding of the unique challenges and strengths faced by Black, Latino, and Afrolatino communities. Whether navigating identity, family expectations, intergenerational trauma, or the intersections of race and mental health, I create a space for talk therapy where clients, of all backgrounds, feel truly seen, respected, and empowered in their full cultural context, promoting their mental wellness.

My work

My approach to therapy draws from both professional training and my personal lived experience. Having navigated life as an Afrolatino man with Cerebral Palsy, I bring a deep understanding of resilience, adaptation, and how systems of difference and inequity can shape our paths. My background in Sociology, with a minor in Africana Studies, further strengthens my insight into systemic oppression, racism, marginalization, and the cultural forces that influence mental wellness and identity.

I apply this knowledge with cultural humility, meeting every client exactly where they are. Whether race, culture, or identity topics arise naturally in your journey or remain in the background, I bring awareness and sensitivity without assumption.

At the heart of my practice is trauma-informed care, which centers your safety, empowerment, choice, collaboration, and trustworthiness. I create a warm, non-judgmental, collaborative space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected — no judgment, no talking over you.

I work with motivated adults, professionals, parents, and couples from all backgrounds who are ready to move forward. Common areas we address in my counseling services include anxiety, burnout, depression, relationship challenges (communication, intimacy, and conflict), the effects of past trauma, and the impact of systemic pressures.

In our talk therapy sessions, we collaborate at your pace to build practical tools for resilience, self-compassion, stronger connections, and greater calm and confidence. I integrate:

- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help reframe unhelpful thoughts and develop effective coping skills

- Mindfulness and somatic techniques for grounding, body awareness, and emotional regulation

- Strengths-based approaches to highlight and grow your inherent resilience

Whether your goals involve reducing symptoms, healing old patterns, strengthening your partnership, or gaining clarity amid life’s bigger forces, I tailor our work to your unique needs.

My passion is supporting people as they move from survival toward thriving — nurturing hope, quiet strength, and authentic growth. I’m honored to walk alongside you in this process.

If this resonates, I’d be glad to connect. Reach out — let’s explore how we can work together.
